About

I was born in Massachusetts, but I'm a Mainer at heart.

My folks moved to rural Maine shortly after my 1st birthday, and I've remained here ever since. My youth was spent mucking around the woods of Lincolnville, playing both pen-and-paper and live-action D&D (while mucking around in the woods), and reading. My affair with computers started when I was around 8, when my grandparents gave me an Apple IIC…

…and I haven't looked back. I now live in Rockland with my lovely wife Bri, our son Zach and our four cats. I work as a full-time ad designer for a local newspaper, in addition to doing freelance design work from home.

What do you offer?

I offer my clients personlized service, quality work and competitive pricing. I will work with you and your ideas to come up with a design that will compliment what you are working to promote, be it a new or completely re-designed website to business cards and brochures. I can even help you create quality black and white or color print advertising. As I mainly focus on website design, details on print work can be discussed in more detail upon meeting.

How does this whole thing work?

Once we make an initial contact via email or phone, we will plan on meeting in person and talk about what your needs are. Thinking about who your target audience is going to be will be key, as it will give us a foundation and shape the entire project. We can discuss the scope of the project, amount and type of content, ideas, color schemes, do some rough sketch work, and basically answer any questions you have. Within a week of the initial meeting, I'll get back to you with a rough site map, as well as an estimate of time and price.

What are my responsibilities as a client?

Before I start any project, I will require that I have from you any text, graphics, photos or other required elements. These can be delivered to me via email, FTP upload, on CD in the mail, or I can even come and pick them up personally. I also require that a deposit be made before any work begins, and will vary depending on the price and time estimate.

What do you charge?

Website jobs will have a set hourly design rate, plus a yearly hosting fee and a one-time setup fee. Web hosting packages include 5 email accounts, the ability to check your mail from anywhere in the world, and complete statitics, allowing you to track hits, popular pages, and where visitors are linking to your site from.
Print jobs will have an hourly design fee, plus a variable printing/shipping fee, depending on your quantity and shipping needs. I will follow the entire process from beginning to end, and have the final product delivered right to your door.

What is the basic turnaround?

Once work commences, a total timeframe can vary, as I work a full time job in addition to the work I do from home. Timeframe can also vary due to the amount of original graphic work, and adjustment and sizing of supplied materials required to complete the job. But, once a solid plan has been devised, I can generally have a site coded, developed and tested within a month.
